This temple is situated at the foot of Wang Shun Mountain and it looks very much like an island, with three rivers surrounding it and green hills behind. Hence, the name Shui Lu Temple (Water and Land Temple). The most attractive featue of the main hall is the colored clay relief carvings on the wall, which, according to the legend, were sculpted by a famous artist Yang Huizhi of the Tang Dynasty(618AD-907AD). The most engaging and appealing sculptures are on the northern and southern walls. They show the life story of Sakyamuni, the founder of Buddhism.
